The Position:

Criterion Global is a fast-expanding international media planning and buying agency currently seeking a Senior Media Analyst.

This role is for media buying professionals with 2+ years of paid media investment experience, with a strong grasp of digital advertising and media campaign execution. 

Importantly, the Senior Media Analyst role is dedicated to identifying new strategic opportunities and solutions beyond readily-available data or client-provided insights. We’re seeking an analytical viewpoint keen to test assumptions, explore new technologies, and find new strategies and ideas for our clients — and media buying as a discipline — to set our work apart. In brief, the Senior Media Analyst will:

  • Identify test opportunities,
  • Develop insights from data, and
  • Use analysis to find new strategic points of view.

This full time position is based in NYC, with travel as needed to our Miami offices or client sites. The Senior Media Analyst reports to the Senior Account Manager, in support of activation and optimization of media investment. Compensation is competitive, and commensurate with experience.

Required Experience

Min. of 2+ years, plus

  • Paid Media Investment (planning, buying, optimization), experience, including:
    • Deep knowledge of media buying process and measurement, current issues within the online media industry, such as attribution, data collection, targeting, privacy, and data management platforms.
    • Working with large data sets to develop insights and learnings (e.g. ad server data)
    • Advanced Excel skills, plus understanding of statistical techniques: hypothesis development, designing tests/experiments, analyzing data, drawing conclusions, and developing actionable recommendations
    • Bonus: Experience with statistical analysis software products
    • Knowledge of visual techniques for data analysis and presentation
  • Experience in project management (strategy, complex planning, and leading teams), ideally in a role requiring both strategic and tactical project duties.
  • Effective communication skills (in-person, email, and phone): happy interacting with internal account teams as external clients
  • Open, curious, a listener and able to translate a request into an approach
  • Math skills and a love of data, with a deliberate organizational process.
  • International curiosity. Globally-minded. Willing to travel.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple priorities/tasks independently, on time and accurately.

Minimum/required experience refers to years direct, full time experience specific to this role, not total years work experience.

Bonus Qualification: Fluency (written + spoken) in a non-English language. 

Responsibilities

Senior Media Analyst duties center on media investment activation + optimization:

  • Identify strategic opportunities + solutions
  • Manage media activation of campaign strategies
  • Analyse outcomes, drawing conclusions, making optimization recommendations
  • Articulate + justify decisions based on data to demonstrate value to client

Skills/Capabilities

Success Criteria:

  • Manage and support client campaigns strategically, by proactively identifying new test opportunities, developing insights from data, analysis of external and internal (past activation) data to develop and support strong strategic points of view on media investment.
  • Management of contracted client reporting, along with Ad Ops for technical/measurement support, reporting into Senior Account leadership.
  • Delivery of ongoing Executive Summary analyses of client reporting (usually weekly) to ensure tactics are aligned with client strategy/objectives.
  • Account Management tasks such as providing specs to creative partners, overseeing AdTech QA processes, contributing to agency brainstorms, client research, managing day-to-day tasks and ad hoc projects, and, overall, the professional representation of agency both internally and externally.
  • Quantitative skills and a deliberate organizational process, + talent to “tell a story” through data.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple priorities/tasks with a confidence.
  • BONUS: Business fluency in a non-English language (optional)
  • ADDITIONAL TECHNOLOGY:  Excel, Google Docs, Powerpoint, Keynote, social media platforms, email, plus ability and interest to learn new technology.
