Responsable Paid Media & Growth (France)
About Criterion Global
Criterion Global is a rare independent international media strategy and buying agency built for growth in the new global economy—helping ambitious brands win across borders with agile global coverage and real in-market capability.
We are not a templated execution shop. Our clients trust us because we bring clear points of view, disciplined measurement, and the kind of in-market critical thinking that prevents expensive mistakes when scaling internationally. We’re intentionally low-profile, but for clients who need results across markets, we’re often a hidden advantage.
France is a priority market for Criterion Global’s continued Eurozone growth. This role matters.
This Role
The Responsable Paid Media / Acquisition Manager will lead acquisition strategy and execution for campaigns where France is not a “region” but a decisive market—with its own media economics, consumer behavior, platform dynamics, and creative norms that require expert judgment.
You will own performance outcomes end-to-end: from channel strategy and investment decisions to optimization, measurement integrity, and executive-ready reporting. You’ll work closely with Criterion Global’s international leadership, but you are expected to bring France-first thinking—including the confidence to challenge assumptions coming from outside the market.
Core Responsibilities
- Own paid media and acquisition performance across France for assigned clients and growth mandates
- Design channel strategy and investment logic across key platforms (e.g., Google, Meta, YouTube, programmatic, retail media where relevant, premium publishers)
- Build and defend clear hypotheses about what will work in-market and why (audiences, signals, creative formats, placements, auction dynamics)
- Manage budgets, pacing, and KPI delivery with strong operational discipline
- Lead experimentation: testing frameworks, learning agendas, incrementality-minded measurement, and performance diagnosis
- Partner with creative and strategy stakeholders to ensure media choices are grounded in how the French market actually behaves
- Maintain measurement hygiene: tagging, attribution guardrails, reporting accuracy, and data clarity for decision-makers
- Communicate performance and recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders—what changed, why it changed, and what we do next
- Identify structural opportunities: new channels, publisher partnerships, more efficient operating methods, and scalable playbooks rooted in France reality
Requirements & Qualifications
- Strong experience leading paid media / acquisition in France (agency or in-house), with demonstrable performance outcomes
- Deep hands-on fluency across major paid platforms; comfort operating at both strategic and execution levels
- Ability to articulate and defend in-market decisions with clarity and evidence—especially when those decisions are non-obvious to outsiders
- Strong analytical thinking: you can diagnose performance issues and separate signal from noise
- Excellent written and verbal communication (French required; English strongly preferred for global collaboration)
- High accountability, precision, and comfort operating in a contract-based, performance-oriented environment
- Bonus: experience supporting international brands entering France or scaling across multiple EU markets
What Success Looks Like
- France campaigns consistently meet or beat acquisition targets with clear rationale behind investment choices
- Stakeholders trust your judgment because your recommendations are market-grounded and well defended
- Testing produces real learning (not activity), and learning translates into better performance
- Reporting is accurate, insightful, and decision-useful at an executive level
- You become a go-to France market authority inside Criterion Global’s Eurozone growth engine
What We Offer
- Ongoing contract engagement with meaningful long-term opportunity
- High-stakes, high-impact work in one of our most important Eurozone markets
- Direct access to agency leadership and global client decision-makers
- Autonomy with high standards: you’ll be trusted to run your lane and be held accountable for outcomes
- A culture that values rigor, clear thinking, and defensible points of view over buzzwords and volume
Compensation, Payment & Contractor Status
To support an efficient and transparent review process, applicants are asked to briefly describe their preferred compensation structure (e.g., hourly, daily, project-based, or retainer) and their proposed rate or fee range, including currency. All engagements are offered on an independent contractor basis only and do not create an employment, partnership, or agency relationship. Compensation information is requested for planning and evaluation purposes and is non-binding; final terms will be subject to mutual agreement, defined scope, availability, jurisdictional and tax requirements. Where applicable, payments to international contractors may be made in the agreed local currency or USD, with any foreign exchange conversion handled at prevailing market rates through the Company’s designated payment provider.
